Yes home screen widgets are now possible on the Nokia 5800, however its not quite the prettiest implementation I would personally have liked, non the less well done to the creator.

The application is called Widgetizer, see quote from creator below followed by a video, given that someone has now actually done this Nokia may not want to be outdone and will probably now have to provide these with a software update.

With this application you can add shortcuts, 2 HTC clocks and Music player widget to your homescreen. In future there will be much more widgets!! like : calendar, contacts, flashlight, BT, WIFI, etc..
